Every surface considered. Every material sourced with intention. Every appliance panelled to vanish into the joinery. And then one element that has earned the right to be seen instead.
The PRO 48 is that element. Stainless steel that does not pretend to be anything else. Glass that turns preservation into something you look at. Two climates held in one cabinet, each to its own degree. It is not the appliance that disappears into the kitchen — it is the one the kitchen is arranged around.

What the glass changes
Most refrigerators are opened in order to find out what is inside them.
This one is read across the room with the door closed. The triple-pane, UV-resistant glass frames what has been collected rather than concealing it — and that quietly changes how a household cooks. Menus are decided by looking. Nothing is lost at the back. The coriander bought on Friday is still visible on Monday, which is usually the only reason it survives to Monday.
531 litres of refrigeration. 334 litres of freezer. Enough that a family shops against a season rather than a Tuesday, entertains forty without triage, and gives the durian a drawer of its own — a genuine consideration rather than a joke, as anyone who has stored one knows.

Inside, roughly every twenty minutes, the air is drawn through and returned — ethylene removed, odour with it. The system described in The Air Between is this system.
So the glass is not a concession made for appearance. What is on display is being actively protected while it is on display.
Two climates, one cabinet
Refrigerated food wants cool, moist air. Frozen food wants air that is frigid and dry. Most refrigerators split the difference and everything inside pays a little for it.
Sub-Zero runs two separate cooling systems, so nothing is negotiated. The crisper holds its humidity. The freezer stays clear of frost and freezer burn. Ice cream tastes of ice cream rather than of last night’s dinner — the small indignity families tolerate for years without ever diagnosing.
Temperature is held within one degree of setpoint. The practical consequence is that you never think about it. Not on the fourth day of a heatwave, not during a party with the door opening every ninety seconds, not in the week nobody is home.
Two doors, one decision
The PRO 48 comes two ways, and the choice is more about temperament than specification.
The ICBPRO4850G carries the glass door. It is the one that makes an argument — and it asks something in return, because an interior on permanent display has to be kept as though it is. In households with a cook and a market rhythm, that is simply how the kitchen already runs. In others, it is a commitment worth being honest with yourself about before ordering.
The ICBPRO4850 carries the solid stainless door. Same width, same height, same 531 and 334 litres, same interior, same air, same dual refrigeration. Nothing is given up but the view.
Both can be built in against surrounding cabinetry or made freestanding with side panels. Both are designed to last a minimum of twenty years, with major components stress-tested before the final design is approved.
Twenty years is two renovations. A child leaving for university and returning with children of their own. Most kitchens are stripped out twice in that span, and the appliance that survives both is the one that was over-built at the start by people who assumed it would have to be.
