The Sub-Zero & Wolf Kitchen Design Contest, Designing the Future of Kitchens

Kithcen Design Contest

Discover how the Sub-Zero & Wolf Kitchen Design Contest honors visionary architects and designers worldwide, celebrating timeless innovation, craftsmanship, and culinary artistry.

For over three decades, the Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove Kitchen Design Contest has stood as a prestigious global platform celebrating exceptional creativity in kitchen design. It is not merely a competition; it is a tribute to the world’s most talented architects, interior designers, and specifiers who blend precision, artistry, and functionality into the heart of the home.

Honoring Visionaries in Design

“The Kitchen Design Contest has been running now for over 30 years,” says Andrew Mumford, Managing Director of Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliances in Australia. “It’s a chance for us to engage, acknowledge, and reward the designers who truly elevate the experience of modern living.”

From residential retreats to avant-garde spaces, each finalist’s work embodies the harmony between form and function, an ethos deeply rooted in Sub-Zero & Wolf’s design philosophy.

A Symphony of Craft and Innovation

Among the standout finalists is FGR Architects, whose minimalist masterpiece, The Concrete Curtain, transforms simplicity into a work of art. “That kitchen is absolutely stunning,” says Feras Rafoul, Director of FGR Architects. “It’s our own home, unique, tactile, and alive in daily use.”

In contrast, Adrian Amore Architects captures an atmosphere of enchantment through organic forms and natural tones. “While in that kitchen, it feels like being in an enchanted forest,” shares Adrian Amore, Founder of Adrian Amore Architects. “We wanted to evoke that emotion through the materials, layout, and lighting, an environment that feels both inspiring and intimate.”

The Art of Functional Beauty

For Rob Mills Architects, design excellence lies in precision and purpose. “There’s a real sequence to getting a kitchen right,” says Rob Mills, Director and Designer. “Every functional element must serve the client’s needs while maintaining visual harmony.”

Their approach combines aesthetic mastery with technological sophistication, a perfect match for Wolf’s induction cooktops and Sub-Zero’s refrigeration systems, which are selected for their exceptional performance, durability, and timeless design.

“The appliances had to reflect the same level of craftsmanship as the Calacatta marble and bronze details,” Mills explains. “Wolf and Sub-Zero offered that rare balance between usability and beauty.”

Global Design, Local Inspiration

The Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove Kitchen Design Contest celebrates not only technical excellence but also cultural diversity in design. From Melbourne to Madrid, each entry showcases how the brand’s appliances seamlessly integrate into diverse design languages, from minimalist concrete structures to warm, timber-clad spaces.

“What we’re seeing now is a phenomenal diversity of design,” says Mumford. “Our products lend themselves to different aesthetics, modern, classic, or experimental. That’s what makes this contest speak so profoundly to the global design community.”

Where Innovation Meets Belonging

At its core, the Kitchen Design Contest honors more than beautiful kitchens; it celebrates spaces that foster connection. As these architects prove, great design transcends visual appeal; it enhances how people live, cook, and gather.

From its inception, Sub-Zero & Wolf has redefined what a luxury kitchen means: a balance of performance, elegance, and emotional resonance. Through this contest, they continue to inspire professionals worldwide to imagine and achieve the extraordinary.
